THE LAST E-MAIL

I opened my mailbox this morning, just as I always do
As I scanned down the list of letters, I saw there was one from you

Now before I ever open my mail, I read each subject line through.
The subject of your letter read " This is my last E mail to you."

I thought for just a moment, and decided I would wait.
I'd save your letter till the last, and give myself time to think.

Slowly I read all my mail, except for the one from you.
If this is to be your last letter, what ever will I do?

Never again could I be so lucky, a special friend to find.
Visions of our perfect friendship, were dancing in my mind.

The wonderful things that you had said, the funny way we met
Of times we had shared our deepest emotions, on the Internet.

Sitting up each night for hours, just chatting to and fro
Laughing, and telling each other, everything we know.

Looking happily toward our future, reminiscing over the past.
We vowed to each other this friendship, would for an eternity last.

I stared at your words in wonder, my eyes filling up with tears.
With trembling hand I opened your letter, my heart was full of fear.

The first line got my complete attention, and truly made me think.

This is the last email I'll send to you, typed using this ugly blue ink!
